Safety statement
Version and effective date: 2026-08-21
This is a translation of the Dutch safety statement, which is the authoritative text. Where the two differ, the Dutch text prevails.
Nehalo is provided by Hugir B.V. and is intended as a digital aid for preparing a trip on the water and for understanding the conditions there. Every user acknowledges the following statement in the app:
This app is an aid to navigation and must not be used as the primary means of navigation.
- It is not an official nautical chart and is no substitute for one.
- Official charts, Notices to Mariners, your instruments on board, and your own judgement as skipper always prevail.
- Depth, current, weather, and marker data may be incomplete, delayed, approximate, or derived from models.
Use of this app is at your own risk.
Not an official nautical chart
Only charts issued by or on the authority of a government body, such as a hydrographic office or a waterway authority, count as official charts. All other chart displays, including chartplotters and navigation apps, are aids to navigation. Nehalo is not an official nautical authority and does not replace official charts, notices to mariners, or other official publications. These remain authoritative at all times.
Third-party data
The information shown is based on third-party data, such as that of government bodies, research institutes, and other data providers, whether or not processed or combined by Nehalo. Hugir B.V. selects these sources with care and states in the service which sources are used.
Despite this care, data may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or approximate. Measurements may be out of date, forecasts are model outputs that can deviate from reality, and registers may lag behind the actual situation on the water. Hugir B.V. does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the information shown. No rights can be derived from the information in Nehalo.
Your own responsibility
The user, skipper, or other person involved remains responsible at all times for safe navigation and for every decision that involves. Before departure and during the voyage, always check the official sources, the instruments on board, and the actual situation, and use Nehalo solely as a supplement to them.
Dangerous situations or discrepancies on the water can be reported to the competent waterway authority. Reports about what Nehalo shows are welcome at support@nehalo.com.
